Sunday Village is the most eco-friendly resort in Ukraine

Sunday Village is one of the longest-running projects our team has worked on. It took over two years from the start of work to the launch. However, for a project of this scale, that’s actually quite a short timeframe, considering we started with just an idea and a plot of land covered only in grass and shrubs.

Today, Sunday Village is the most eco-friendly resort on the banks of the Southern Bug River, featuring 33 comfortable two-story cottages, a permanent tent for events, a well-maintained beach with loose sand, a pier with rentals for boats, catamarans, and SUP boards, and an administrative building with a shop and rentals for ATVs and bicycles.

To ensure environmental sustainability, a solar power plant has been installed, water is supplied from wells, all living trees were preserved during construction, and the open meadows retain their natural grasslands with plants native to central Ukraine. Needless to say, storks and swallows love to nest at Sunday Village, and hares, roe deer, and wild boars greet guests in the forest along the way to the resort.

Concept, Name, and Strategy

The area where the resort is located has long been a favorite destination not only for residents of the central region but also for visitors from all over Ukraine. The wide floodplains of the Southern Bug River, coniferous forests, and, of course, plenty of sunshine.

It was the sun itself that became the central idea behind the name. After all, “sun day” easily transforms into “Sunday” (the day of rest). This name also harmoniously reflects the idea of sustainability, as the territory features not only cottages but also a solar power plant. In the logo, we combined all the natural elements and colors that surround Sunday Village guests upon arrival.

At this stage, market research was also conducted, target audiences were selected, a plan for additional services and entertainment was developed, and a marketing strategy for promotion was formulated.

Master Plan and Architectural Style

It is impossible to develop a large area effectively without a detailed master plan. This was the next step. Our goals were not only to arrange the cottages comfortably, but also to plan the streets and paths, make use of the terrain, and, most importantly, preserve every tree: the cottages and solar panels were positioned exclusively with nature in mind.

Given the fairly large area, we divided it into three zones for the convenience of our guests: Blue, Green, and Yellow. Each zone has its own unique features and advantages, which are reflected in the color scheme of the cottages.

Since the guiding principle of Sunday Village is the combination of sustainability and innovation, we immediately rejected the traditional Ukrainian log cabins when designing the cottages. We drew inspiration from Norwegian hygge and American cottage communities, which feature plenty of space and clean lines, no fences, and abundant natural greenery.

For the interior design, we used calm colors with accents in the details and solid wood elements, and planned everything necessary for a comfortable stay, including a fully equipped kitchen.

Construction and Design

To be honest, it was incredibly exciting for us to watch the construction process unfold. When ideas on paper come to life, and in the process you help decide on the color of the walls and flooring, test the unfinished stairs, sketch out the layout of bathroom fixtures on the floor, debate the color of the furniture, and test the softness of the towels.

For a company that operates primarily in the digital space, this experience was incredibly inspiring.

Management and Promotion Tools

To ensure high-quality internal tracking of reservations, check-ins, and check-outs, as well as comprehensive management of the resort, we had to test many hotel management systems. The winner was a Ukrainian-made system, which is now in use at Sunday Village. We implemented IP telephony to manage calls.

As planned, the website became the main tool for attracting guests and accepting reservations. Development, from the prototype to the full launch, took two months. On the website, we provided the most comprehensive description and showcase of all Sunday Village’s offerings, ranging from accommodations to additional services and entertainment.

Advertising and Public Relations

The marketing strategy for the launch was developed before the full-scale invasion began; it included not only active online and offline advertising campaigns, but also a grand opening featuring bloggers, celebrities, and a show program. However, we decided to cancel the grand opening, as both we and the owners felt it would be inappropriate.

So, the main advertising channels became social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) and Google search ads. And, as it turned out, this was enough to get Sunday Village off to an effective start!

What's next?

To be honest, there’s still a lot of work to be done, as our plans are focused entirely on growth and improvement. We’re already working on opening a food court and a restaurant, and we’re planning the construction of a swimming pool and additional recreational areas. But you can visit Sunday Village right now—the most eco-friendly resort in Ukraine
